The Reality of Jesus: The Way, Truth, and Life
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
Not the ideas that surround Him. Not the statements about Him. Not our emotions towards him. Not our recognition of him. None of those things suffice.
This way, truth, and life are decisively and definitively Himself. He is the unfolding, self-sacrificing, life-giving stream of water from which we find everlasting, abundant, wholehearted life which is reminiscent of the abundance of Eden, for which every man truly longs but knows not how to obtain (nor could they if they wished, for how could we create something out of nothing? How could we endure forever with only resources that perish?)
Thus, to preach the Gospel is to direct one to the stream. Not the ideas about the stream. Not towards good emotions of the stream. But rather, into a direct experiential indulgence in what the stream, Jesus Christ, King of Earth freely gives to all willing to receive. And to follow this Jesus is not to sit at the stream and discuss its contents, or ponder the force with which it flows, or discuss the biology behind why we need the stream. To find life, we must drink of the water in the stream.
